Book One - Finished

I just finished The Alchemist. It was actually pretty good. I will definitely have to grab the others and see what happens next. The ending of this one was almost a cliffhanger.

Pages: 369 (I didn't read any of the extra stuff in the back)

Summer Reading Project Ideas

Choose one of the following activities to complete for your novel choice. Don’t forget to include all of the important information: YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME; your grade level for the upcoming school year; the title and author of your novel.

· Rewrite your favorite part of the book using yourself as a character, and a favorite place as a setting.
· Write a “Dear Abby” column for two characters in your story. Have them describe the problems they are facing in the book and respond to their problems as if you were “Abby”.
· Summarize the plot of your story by creating a cartoon version of the story. Use about 8 to 10 frames.
· Rewrite the story as a children’s picture book. 10 page minimum.
· Create a newspaper page for the novel. Summarize the plot in one of the articles. Cover the setting in another. Include an editorial, a collection of ads that would be pertinent to the novel and a picture or two.
· Complete a portfolio of 8-10 sketches based on the important events of your novel.
· Keep a diary or journal for one of the main characters. 10 entries minimum.
· Write a chapter that might come after the last chapter.
· Write a play in three scenes based on the plot of your book.
· Create a power point presentation based on your book. 10 slide minimum.
· Play the part. Present your book dressed as your favorite character.
