I finished Savvy. I really enjoyed it, actually. You should seriously consider it for your summer reading assignment. And when you do, I have all kinds of things I want to talk to you about!
Choose one of the following activities to complete for your novel choice. Don’t forget to include all of the important information: YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME; your grade level for the upcoming school year; the title and author of your novel.
· Rewrite your favorite part of the book using yourself as a character, and a favorite place as a setting. · Write a “Dear Abby” column for two characters in your story. Have them describe the problems they are facing in the book and respond to their problems as if you were “Abby”. · Summarize the plot of your story by creating a cartoon version of the story. Use about 8 to 10 frames. · Rewrite the story as a children’s picture book. 10 page minimum. · Create a newspaper page for the novel. Summarize the plot in one of the articles. Cover the setting in another. Include an editorial, a collection of ads that would be pertinent to the novel and a picture or two. · Complete a portfolio of 8-10 sketches based on the important events of your novel. · Keep a diary or journal for one of the main characters. 10 entries minimum. · Write a chapter that might come after the last chapter. · Write a play in three scenes based on the plot of your book. · Create a power point presentation based on your book. 10 slide minimum. · Play the part. Present your book dressed as your favorite character.
